Coaxial cable is a type of copper wiring for transmitting audio and video signals. Invented in 1929, coaxial cable is commonly used to hook up a television to subscript cable-TV service, and for connecting a satellite TV receiver to a dish. The two copper wires inside the cable are connected to a rotating metal coupler and metal pin that inserts into a coaxial jack. Hooking up coaxial cables for use takes only a few minutes. The cables can be used with any device equipped with a coaxial jack for sending or receiving signals.
